Sights

• Granada has a number of museums, churches and other sightseeing buildings. One of the most visited and famous monument in Spain, are the gardens, fort and palace of the Alhambra, which some people consider as one of the ten miracles of the world.

• The Cathedral of Granada is considered as the most important Renaissance building of Spain.

• Other sights of Granada are: the 'Monastery of Sacromonte', 'La Lonja' (market building from the 16th century), 'Capilla Real' (The Royal Chapel), 'La Cartuja' (a baroque monastery of 1506), 'San Jeronimo' (splendid Renaissance temple), 'La Alcaiceria' (the old Arabian silk-market), etc.


Nightlife

• The nightlife in Granada is much quieter in the holidays, because the students go home and the people go to the beach in the summer. There are two main zones full of bars where the nightlife goes on until the morning.

• In the winter there is often a band playing in the bars.


Climate

• In the spring and autumn Granada has warm sunny days and the temperature is just perfect.

• The hottest days are in the months July and August, where the temperature can reach 40°C.

• Granada has very little rainfall. That’s why it has a dry heat, which can be more bearable than the humid in other Spanish cities.


Food

• Granada has a rich and varied kitchen, because of its geographic location, between the sea and the mountains.

• The best known specialty of the mountain region is the 'Jamσn de Trevelez', which is a ham that is cured in the snow. Original from the coast is 'ajo blanco', a cold soup made of almonds.
